We are excited to celebrate our first anniversary. Just last year, City Folk’s was an idea yet to come to fruition. Thanks to a flock of loyal customers, we now have a thriving business and growing community.
We want you to join in our anniversary celebrations! Stop in the store during the first week of spring for these activities:
Tuesday, March 19 – First chicks of the season arrive! Pre-order by Thursday for this batch with the online form or by contacting us in the store.
Wednesday, March 20 – We’ll serve birthday cake all day. Today is also the first chance to bid on a silent auction of some of our favorite tools and supplies. 10% of all purchases Wednesday will go to fund our latest project – support of a community garden!
Thursday, March 21 – The store is hosting a homestead tool swap from 4 – 7 pm. Bring in extra gently used canning, gardening, or livestock equipment to trade with other homesteaders and shop discounts on investment homesteading items like dehydrators, pressure cookers/canners, and jerky maker.
Friday March 22 is for chicken-keeping friends. Receive discounts on all chicken-related items and register to win one year’s worth of chicken feed (some restrictions apply)!
Saturday March 23 concludes our celebration with breakfast treats from 10 – 11 am. We’ll pick silent auction winners at the close of business Saturday, so stop in to check your bids!
We hope to see you at one or all of these events because with you, there would be no first anniversary. Thanks!
PS. We would love to see 1000 likes on Facebook by our anniversary. Can you help?
Order your seeds with us and pay no shipping!
Browse the Baker Creek or Seed Savers Exchange catalog and make your selections.
Send your selection to us in an email, in person, or over the phone (614-946-5553) and we’ll place a large order together. No minimums, no shipping charge. The order deadline is January 21 and seeds will be available for pickup at City Folk’s in early February.
Father’s Day is coming this Sunday, June 17. We have these suggestions for dads:
If your Dad likes to cook, the folks at One20Farm are offering locally made seasonings that will help spice up indoor and outdoor meals.
Hand crafted tools from Iron and Wood or the soil knife are quite popular.
If Dad is a reader, we have a nice selection of urban farming reading. Remember, too, that our lending library is up and running with magazines and books that will interest gardeners, organic growers and homesteaders.
Dad won’t get another one of these bat houses. Ours are locally made and perfect for attracting bats who help with insect and mosquito control.
We carry several versions of rain barrels and fittings for Dad to make his own. If algae or mosquitoes become an issue, we have solutions to take care of those problems.
Another one of a kind gift, the local mushroom log requires patience and time, but if taken care, of will provide years of tasty shitake mushroom harvests.
Dad can help his garden and plants stay healthy with our organic and natural plant foods and fertilizers.
City Folk’s is open everyday until Father’s Day including from 12-4 on the day itself for last minute purchases.
Is this the year you will bring chickens to your backyard?
We are working with a supplier to provide sexed, backyard-friendly breed chicks with no minimum order for those who want to keep hens. The birds will be $3 each and delivered to City Folk’s by car on May 24th. Chicks will then be held at the store for seven days.
We will take orders for chicks through
May 9th extended to May 16th. Email Shawn@cityfolksfarmshop.com or stop in the store to place your order.
When ordering, please let us know if you will be looking for supplies and feed so we can be fully stocked. We will also order other supplies upon request and have these available on May 24th.
We are still smiling from a successful Grand Opening!
The weather was cool but visitors enjoyed hot G.Nix comfort food and sparks were flying in the Sharpening on Site truck.
Inside, the store bustled with so many people that we could hardly keep up at times. A group organized a cash mob that filled the shop! We sold out of quite a few items and are busy re-ordering. We are also selecting some new items in that should be here for Mother’s Day.
Our facebook fans voted for a portion of proceeds to benefit Local Matters. Thanks to shoppers, we are donating over $200!
We also want to thank Columbus Underground and Hounds in the Kitchen who shared news about our grand opening celebration.
We deeply appreciate the friends and family who helped us open the store and all who made our grand opening special.
We are so thankful that the Columbus community has embraced City Folk’s Farm Shop that we want to give back with a special Grand Opening Celebration.
Stop in from 9 am – 5 pm Saturday April 21 for a host of great deals and treats. We will donate 10% of all proceeds on grand opening day to a charity being chosen by our Facebook fans!
Customer can pick up free samples of natural laundry detergent and SeedBallz while they last.
G.Nix Food Cart will set up in front of the store from 11 am – 2 pm to offer sandwiches to hungry shoppers. Bring your kitchen knives and garden tools for Sharpening on Site to hone to perfection while you browse.
