Denise’s popular Classroom For The Urban Coop workshops are back. This is an 8 week series filled with everything the new urban chicken owner will need to know to raise happy and healthy chickens.
Week 1 – Getting Started: why backyard chickens?
Week 2 – Chicks! Brooding, housing, feeding, safety
Week 3 – Meat Birds: From the brooder to the oven in less than 60 days
Week 4 – Layers: Point of Lay to Cull and everything in between
Week 5 – Health and Safety: Common ailments, preventative care, predation and bio-security
Week 6 – Butchering and Culling: Butchering methods, alternatives to home butcher, culling the laying flock
Week 7 – Housing and Handling: Explore housing options, regulations, composting, poultry handling, chores
Week 8 – Taking it Further: Hatching your own, breeding, sales, and expanding the flock
